Yoga, Ayurveda and Make in India - The Juggernaut of Political Ploy
It’s a privilege today to be an under privileged if you are in India, interestingly even after 68 years of our independence. The successive governments have been busy harnessing the harvest of Independence in forms of amassing fortune at the cost of ensuring more than half of the independent population remain illiterate. This in itself is a travesty of the reasons for which many a brave hearts laid down their lives. The priorities were politically inclined towards establishing a system of governance and the results that emerged out of the decisive confusion was the resurrection of yet another colonial conundrum which categorically divided the nation into ‘people in power’, ‘people who are empowered’ (electorate) to vote those in power and the ‘people who will never question the power of those in power’!
The political poetry of power was doused with such methodological precision that the two classes still remain powerless to think and act beyond their boundaries. The boundaries with high walls, something no one will ever cross as the invincibility of the power equations remain fortified with electrified barbed wires that stings and emit rays to paralyse the bravado of crossing the boundary.
Now, what are these stings and the rays?
The architects who gave us the Constitution wanted to incorporate the best of global practices in governance prevailing at the time of framing the guidelines which however has not been considered for a review by the parliamentarians in wake of the a India Today! The ridiculous pre-requisite of being considered eligible to contest the elections to the Lok Sabha or the Lower House of the Indian Parliament does not ask for a minimum academic qualification, even today!
Is it a matter of convenience by the politicians or a ploy to cripple the national spine? Making the erudite represent with the representation of accomplished and eminent personalities in the upper house or the Rajya Sabha, further divides the cause of democracy.
Corruption being the generic and widely accepted trait in Indian politics, one has to necessarily flex muscles through men and money in contesting the elections. Who are these men and where does this money come from? How do these men who flex their muscles in the wantonness and debauchery of survival return to their homes and meet the eyes of their family or are has the entire family accepted the survival formula without questioning?
We are either illiterate or semi literate to take a pause and think of questioning the people in power. We have been rendered spineless cowards long ago when we were batched in the assembly line of the governance as either toil to live, foil to live or spoilt to live and the only cause is the illiteracy that is widely acknowledged and still prevalent in the juggernaut of Yoga, Ayurveda and Make in India head turning themes.
